According to Leo Medel:

It's quite amusing to make up what is actually "Papá o 36.000 Juicios de un Mismo Suceso", since it is nothing. It's nothing because it's a process of experimentation. But let's get to the essential. "Papá" is a story that was made to be seen on a DVD. It's an unstable narration. Every time the story is played, the scenes will combine producing a new sense. The argument —what happens, the story— is always the same. What varies is the points of view, the narrators, the ways of telling the story. A single event is shown through a documentary camera, a musical version or with a brief interruption of one of the characters addressing he camera (like in the sitcom Malcom, but not so well done). In the picture there's a piece of the map that we used to make the movie (the movie itself is the best way to explain this). The white papers represent de story recorded with to cameras in documentary code. The brown ones represent the brief —and sometimes not so brief— monologues of the characters to the camera. The colored papers are the musicals (each color is a different character).

According to Juan Pablo Fernandez:

The first time you watch "Papá…" you may watch a love and drama story, in a very common and realística movie.

The second time you watch "Papá…" you may watch a love and drama story, in a more or less realística movie with some musical scenes.

The tirad time you watch "Papá…" you may watch a love and drama story, in a movie where the characters address the camera and sing.

And so on.

How is this possible?

The whole story has about 50 scenes, from the beginning to the end. Each one of these scenes has about 3 options (a very realistic one, a musical and monologue). So, EACH TIME, you watch the movie, the DVD player —because this movie works only in DVD— "decides" which version of each scene it will show. Then, the first time the player might choose to start with a musical, then show 5 realistic scenes and then a series of monologues. The second time, it may only choose realistic scenes and the movie will have that style.

That's it.
